For the first time since he came to Ohio State, Jim Tressel found out what it felt like to lose The Game.

No. 9 Michigan jumped out to leads of 21-0 and 28-7 on No. 2 OSU, and then hung on for their first win in three tries against Tressel.

The Buckeyes mounted a furious second-half comeback, using a Santonio Holmes touchdown reception and a Lydell Ross scoring run to cut the deficit to 28-21.

OSU actually got the ball back with a chance to tie the game, but went 3-and-out. Michigan answered with an 8-play, 87-yard drive to seal it. The final score was 35-21.

Wolverine running back Chris Perry finished the game with 154 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

The loss denied the Buckeyes a chance to defend their 2002 national championship.
