The Game of the Century between No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Michigan lived up to every bit of the considerable hype.
The Buckeyes held off the Wolverines, 42-39 to clinch a spot in the BCS National Championship Game.
Troy Smith threw for 316 yards and four touchdowns and both Antonio Pittman and Chris Wells ripped off touchdown runs of more than 50 yards.
The Buckeyes built leads of 28-14, 35-24, and 42-31, but the Wolverines came back to cut it to a one-score game each time.
However, OSU never actually relinquished the lead after the first quarter.
The Bucks were able to seal the win with an onside kick recovery by Ted Ginn, and a first-down run by Antonio Pittman.
The win capped the second perfect regular season in five years for Jim Tressel’s program.
