Watch: Another Pair of Ohio State Freshmen Lose Black Stripes

Pete Werner Thayer Munford Ohio State

Following practice Tuesday evening, two more Ohio State freshmen football players were officially welcomed to the team by having their black stripes removed.

Indianapolis linebacker Pete Werner and Cincinnati offensive lineman Thayer Munford both received the honor.

Munford has moved into the two-deep conversation at right tackle, as he has been attached the Isaiah Prince’s hip for most of fall camp. His stellar play has been part of the reason why last year’s backup right tackle Branden Bowen has been given a long look at the open right guard spot.

Werner could very well find a spot on special teams as a true freshman. He has been mentioned as a possibility for that role by Urban Meyer. Linebackers coach Bill Davis said that Werner still has some catching up to do because he didn’t arrive until the summer. The good thing about him, however, is that when he messes up, they explain to him what he did wrong and then he doesn’t make that same mistake again.
