Buckeye Harvest To Be Selected On Day 2 Of NFL Draft

Sam Hubbard Maryland Ohio State Football Buckeyes

Congratulations to Denzel Ward and Billy Price on earning first-round draft selections in the 2018 NFL Draft.  Both were well-deserved, and Ohio State fans who root for the Browns and Bengals who had grown numb to watching their favorite NFL team bypass Buckeyes can rejoice in the day one selections.  Tom Orr must have been able to get through to the front office of the Browns with his well-written article from last fall.

Friday night at 7 pm, the 2018 NFL Draft resumes.  How will the Buckeyes fare on day two, in rounds two and three?

DE Sam Hubbard – A possible late first-round draft choice, Hubbard should hear his name during round two.  I would be ecstatic if the Browns selected him, but I see Hubbard as a stereotypical New England Patriot pick by Bill Belichick. The Patriots have the 43rd pick overall.  I saw some mock drafts that predicted Hubbard as a possible pick by Tennessee in the first round, but the Titans do not pick until the 57th pick in the second round.

OT Jamarco Jones – A hopeful selection by the Browns, if Shannon Sommers is making the pick.  Jones should be taken by the end of day two.   Could Jones be the Browns’ pick at #64 overall at the end of round two?  The Browns are in need of a tackle with the retirement of Joe Thomas.

LB Jerome Baker – Should be selected by the end of day two.  Will the Browns pull the trigger on the athletic Buckeye linebacker with one of their three second-round draft choices?

What about the other draft-eligible Buckeyes, such as Tyquan Lewis, Jalyn Holmes, Damon Webb, Marcus Baugh, Chris Worley, and J.T. Barrett?  While I anticipate that all of these Buckeyes will be selected, I think they’ll end up being drafted on Saturday, during rounds four through seven.

I hope I’m wrong. Tune back in at 7 pm Friday when the NFL Draft resumes and see where the rest of the Buckeyes end up.

  1. I was a lifelong Browns fan but dumped them when they traded Paul Warfield and then fired Paul Brown. I became a fierce Bengals fan when Brown started them from scratch. Today I’m happy for both Ohio teams getting back to Buckeye Basics!
