WATCH: Buckeye Defense Previews 2019 Rose Bowl

Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano

LOS ANGELES – The 2019 Rose Bowl is just five days away, and the preparations for the game are kicking into high gear.

Late Thursday morning, the Buckeyes will head out to the Stub Hub Center, home of the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers, for their second practice.

But first thing Thursday morning, Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano met with the media, along with defensive tackle Dre’Mont Jones, defensive ends Jonathon Cooper and Chase Young, and linebacker Tuf Borland.

It was the first formal press conference in the lead-up to the game.

They provided a look at what they expect from the Washington offense, what their Rose Bowl experience has been like so far, and also addressed the emotions around the team just days before Urban Meyer’s final game as the Buckeyes’ head coach.

  1. I feel sorry for Schiano. I am sure he is genuine good man and he is a good recruiter. Maybe we can find something for him to coach or do if he doesn’t have other options. However, I have no faith in anything he says and never will after two years of being denied the playoffs because of him and only him. Maybe he was dealt a bad hand, but it does not matter at this point. He HAS to be replaced as DC and immediately after the bowl game. It should have been after the MI game but that’s fine now.

  2. The best thing that could happen for the Buckeye defense is to get rid of Schiano and get a real defensive coordinator.
