Former Ohio State cornerback Kendall Sheffield was selected Saturday in the fourth round by the Atlanta Falcons with the 111th pick overall.
The Falcons traded up six spots in order to select Sheffield.
He becomes the the seventh Buckeye cornerback drafted in the last six years. Five of those seven were selected in the first round.
Sheffield transferred to Ohio State from Blinn College in 2017 and was part of OSU’s cornerback rotation for each of the last two seasons.
Sheffield began his career at the University of Alabama.
A starter in all 14 games last season, Sheffield earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten accolades. He finished with 35 tackles last season and was second on the team with two interceptions.
Sheffield broke up eight passes last season as well.
In 2017, he started three games while rotating with Damon Arnette and Denzel Ward.
He finished that season with 40 tackles and nine passes broken up.
Sheffield holds the Ohio State indoor track record with a time of 6.663 seconds.
