Buckeyes Offer OH Safety AJ Kirk, Brother of Mike Doss

Ohio State extended an offer to 4-star Dublin-Coffman safety AJ Kirk today. Kirk, the No. 5 safety in the 2021 class and the No. 174 player overall in 247Sports’ rankings, received his offer following today’s 1-day camp at OSU.

Kirk’s brother, former Ohio State 3-time All-American Michael Doss tweeted out the news.

Kirk (6-0 200) also holds offers from Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, Nebraska, Boston College, and others.

A source close to Kirk has told The-Ozone that a quick commitment is not expected at this moment.

On the field, Kirk is a talented free safety who hits like a linebacker. He is equal parts centerfielder and enforcer. Kirk can cover a half of the field against high school quarterbacks, but is also just as effective in stopping the run.

Some have viewed the Buckeyes as a bit slow in extending this offer. Kirk becomes the eighth Ohio prospect in the 2021 class to receive an offer.

He joins Pickerington North defensive end Jack Sawyer (No. 1 SDE/No. 2 Player overall), Richfield offensive lineman Ben Christman (No. 3 OT/No. 22 overall), Roger Bacon running back Corey Kiner (No. 5 RB/No. 103 overall), Pickerington Central receiver Lorenzo Styles, Jr. (No. 16 WR/No. 110 overall), Massillon Washington receiver Jayden Ballard (No. 18 WR/No. 117 overall), Solon defensive end Najee Story (No. 15 SDE/No. 187 overall), and Ironton linebacker Reid Carico (No. 7 ILB/No. 195 overall).

Based on his style of play and frame, AJ Kirk could also be a candidate for the Bullet position should he choose Ohio State.

The Buckeyes currently have two players committed in the 2021 class in 5-star defensive end Jack Sawyer and 4-star quarterback Kyle McCord.

Kirk’s Crystal Ball is 100% Ohio State, but that is based on just two projections.

  1. Watch the thunder. He’s going to be “Just like Mike.”

  2. Seems like a no-brainer. Hopefully the kid pulls the trigger. Damn near any Ohio kid that is Top 5 at his position nationally should be an instant offer.
