Cornerback Rodjay Burns Announces Transfer from Ohio State to be Closer to Home
By Tony Gerdeman
Sophomore cornerback Rodjay Burns announced on Friday that he is transferring from Ohio State due to his father's health. He will be transferring to Louisville. He will sit out the 2017 season and then have three years of eligibility remaining.

Burns, who is from Louisville, was originally committed to the University of Louisville before the Buckeyes came calling. He played in six games last season as a true freshman, finishing with one tackle.

He made his Ohio State debut in a big way last season in the opener against Bowling Green. Late in the game he grabbed a tipped pass and returned the interception 75 yards for the score.

Cornerbacks coach Kerry Coombs made it a point this spring to mention the progress that Burns had made.

"The new guys are really, really playing well, as is Rodjay Burns," Coombs said. "And so this group of kids, from a pecking order standpoint, if we lined up today, I would expect that six of them would play, or maybe seven during the course of the game. They’re that talented, and we’re going to keep fresh guys out there. Jeff Okudah, Rodjay Burns, Shaun Wade, and Marcus Williamson are going to play a lot of snaps."

Burns is the second OSU cornerback to transfer this week, joining redshirt sophomore Joshua Norwood. The Buckeyes now appear to be at the 85 scholarship mark without any further attrition.
