Ross Homan

OSU Head Coach Jim Tressel said yesterday that linebacker Ross Homan is beginning to make some progress in his recovery from a foot injury that has kept him out of action for much of the season.

"Ross Homan went a little bit this week," said Tressel indicating that Homan took part in at least some practice drills this week, but then added "I don't think he's ready (to play on Saturday)."

According to Tressel, safety Aaron Gant will also sit out the Wisconsin game.

"It just doesn't seem like he's coming along, and that hurts us from a special teams standpoint," said Tressel.

Defensive end Robert Rose saw limited action last weekend while nursing an injury. Tressel did not seem optimistic about his return to action this week.

"Rob Rose is probably a little bit limited like he was last week, and it's probably not the style of game that you wanted to be limited at that position," said Tressel.

Also on the defensive side of the ball, it was learned this week that freshman corner Eugene Clifford has missed some time due to an undisclosed injury, but that Clifford has now returned to action. On a more positive note, corner Andre Amos has returned to action after recovering from knee surgery.

"For that guy to come back off of a knee surgery so quick, usually you have a surgery like that it takes probably to the end of the season and if you're lucky by Bowl time for a guy to come back, and he came back Purdue week full practice," said OSU corner backs coach Taver Johnson.

"He's been doing well and we expect some big things out of him.

"He's really athletic," said Johnson of Amos.

"We were really, really kind of down when he got hurt because he was coming along, he was getting better."
