Re-Thinking Fall Depth Chart: Offense
By Brandon Castel

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The first week of fall practice is in the books at Ohio State but there are plenty of questions that still need answered before the Buckeyes take the field on Sept. 3 against Akron.

Who replaces Terrelle Pryor at quarterback will have a ripple affect on the rest of the offense, but there are plenty of other holes that need to be filled during fall camp.

After watching a number of practices already this fall, we decided to re-think the offensive depth chart based on what we’re seeing on the field.

QUARTERBACK

(Editor’s Note: The quarterback battle is still WIDE OPEN. No one has made enough of a push that we feel comfortable moving Joe Bauserman out of the top spot. Stay tuned throughout camp, as this situation is fluid.)

14 Joe Bauserman (6-1, 230, rSr.)
13 Kenny Guiton (6-2, 195, rSo.)
5 Braxton Miller (6-3, 210, Fr.)
19 Taylor Graham (6-4, 230, rFr.)

TAILBACK

(Editor’s note: Much like the quarterback position, the running back rotation has been consistently spread out early in camp. Jordan Hall and Jaamal Berry appear to be working more with the first group, but Carlos Hyde and Rod Smith are both capable of taking over the top spot while Boom Herron is suspended.)

7 Jordan Hall (5-9, 195, Jr.) OR
4 Jaamal Berry (5-10, 200, rSo.)
^1 Dan Herron (5-10, 205, rSr.)
34 Carlos Hyde (6-0, 238, rFr.) OR
24 Rod Smith (6-3, 230, rFr.)

FULLBACK

44 Zach Boren (6-0, 252, Jr.)
49 Adam Homan (6-2, 248, Jr.)
33 David Durham (6-1, 245, rFr.)

SPLIT END

9 Verlon Reed (6-0, 195, rFr.)
^8 DeVier Posey (6-2, 210, Sr.)
18 T.Y. Williams (6-5, 228, rFr.)

FLANKER

10 Corey “Philly” Brown (5-11, 182, So.)
15 Devin Smith (6-3, 190, Fr.)
16 Evan Spencer (6-1, 190, Fr.)

SLOT RECEIVER

(Editor’s note: Receivers coach Stan Drayton said he expects Jordan Hall to spend some time in the slot this fall. He called him one of the most versatile players in college football.)

80 Chris Fields (6-0, 180, rSo.)
7 Jordan Hall (5-9, 195, Jr.)
11 Jake Stoneburner (6-5, 245, rJr.)

TIGHT END

11 Jake Stoneburner (6-5, 245, rJr.)
+88 Reid Fragel (6-8, 280, Jr.)
*86 Jeff Heuerman (6-5, 240, Fr.)
81 Nick Vannett (6-6, 235, Fr.)
48 Spencer Smith (6-2, 236, rSr.)

78 Andrew Norwell (6-5, 308, So.)
^75 Mike Adams (6-8, 320, Sr.)
72 Chris Carter (6-6, 350, Fr.)

LEFT GUARD

74 Jack Mewhort (6-6, 303, rSo.)
69 Eric Kramer (6-4, 304, rFr.)
66 Ben St. John (6-2, 295, rFr.)
