Staff Picks - MSU Championship Week
By the-Ozone Staff

The Buckeyes won't rush for 300 yards in this game, but they'll still be able to run it fairly well. The difference in the game, however, will be Braxton Miller's passing. There will be opportunities to make plays down the middle of the field, and I think the Buckeyes will do just that. Michigan State's offense, meanwhile, will have troubles in the red zone. Ohio State 31, Michigan State 19 — Tony Gerdeman (12-0)

Considering a certain game that comes to mind, I'm not sure calling Michigan State Tressel-like is actually a compliment when they're preparing to face Urban Meyer. That one ended okay for Meyer. This one will too. Ohio State 31, Michigan State 17 — Rob Ogden (12-)

The Buckeyes' offense against the Spartans' defense is what everyone wants to see, but what about the other side of the ball? Can MSU move the ball effectively and score on Ohio State? Will OSU's defense be ready for whatever the Spartans will throw at them? Eventually the Buckeyes are just too much for them as they take home the Big Ten title. Ohio State 31 Michigan State 17 —Patrick Murphy (12-0)

This is the most interesting matchup Ohio State has played in a long, long time, and probably the best team the Buckeyes have faced since Urban Meyer became the head coach. The last time these two teams met it was a one-point game. That battle in East Lansing feels like a lifetime ago, but Mark Dantonio has Michigan State playing it at its best heading into the Big Ten title game. The key may come down to whether Luke Fickell can get his guys to play at a high level, but Meyer should be able to squeeze enough out of Braxton Miller and Carlos Hyde to come away with a narrow victory. Ohio State 31, Michigan State 27 —Brandon Castel (12-0)

Defense wins championships, and this is a championship game. MSU's defense has been great, but has not fared as well against spread teams as it has non-spread teams. The Buckeye offense will pose problems for MSU's defense. OSU's defense has been suspect, but has done best against teams that depend on the run more than the pass, and that describes MSU's offense. Ohio State 24, Michigan State 20 — John Porentas (12-0)
