Spring Game Rosters: Closer Look at Scarlet
By Brandon Castel

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Tom Herman will have a lot of weapons on Saturday when his Scarlet offense takes the field against Ed Warinner, Luke Fickell and a Gray team that is loaded on defense.

Herman will serve as the offensive coordinator under Gray coach Everett Withers, and his offense will feature both Braxton Miller and Kenny Guiton. Both quarterbacks will be in limited contact black jerseys on Saturday, and Guiton will actually play for both teams.

Miller will have his full arsenal on offense, other than the running back position. Bri’onte Dunn will serve as the Scarlet team’s feature back, with Warren Ball playing for both squads on Saturday.

Catching passes from Miller and Guiton will be starting wideouts Devin Smith and Corey Brown, along with tight ends Jeff Heuerman and Nick Vannett. The Scarlet team offensive line features four projected starters, including left tackle Jack Mewhort.

It also features both competitors for the right tackle position in Taylor Decker and Chase Farris. With Mewhort probably being limited on Saturday, Decker could see extended time at left tackle.

Herman and the Scarlet offense might want to put some points on the board in a hurry, however, because the defense is pretty slipshod. It is led by linebackers David Perkins, Camren Williams and Josh Perry, but the rest of the group is made up entirely of second-teamers.

Mike Vrabel and Tim Hinton will round out the coaching staff for Warinner during Saturday’s spring game.
