Two-Minute Drill: Wednesday Post-Practice Updates
By Tony Gerdeman

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Following Wednesday's practice, Urban Meyer took some time to speak with the media about the Buckeyes and their upcoming spring game on Saturday.

Urban Meyer Updates

+ Meyer started off by saying that they have had some injuries this spring, but everybody is on pace to be back for the summer training.

+ He said the young guys in the rotation are Curtis Samuel, Raekwon McMillan, Sean Neurnberger, and Johnnie Dixon. He said Samuel has surprised him because he expected him to be more of a hybrid player, but he is a legitimate running back right now. He had another good practice on Wednesday.

+ Meyer said that the Spring Game is more than just "another practice". He wants to see his receivers make plays because they are going to throw the ball a lot in the game. This practice brings a lot of evaluation with it.

+ Meyer said the RB pecking order at the moment is Ezekiel Elliott, Bri'onte Dunn, Rod Smith, Curtis Samuel and Warren Ball.

+ Rod Smith and Jamal Marcus haven't practiced lately due to academic issues. Meyer said nothing major, they just need to focus on academics rather than football right now.

+ Meyer said that Cardale Jones is a completely different player than he was a year ago and has a good command of the offense.

+ He said the Spring Game draft will be held on Thursday. Stan Drayton and Kerry Coombs will be the head coaches. They'll have 10-minute quarters.

+ Meyer said he thought the offense would be more dynamic with their skill this spring, but injuries to Braxton Miller and Jalin Marshall have hindered that. The pass defense has improved as he had hoped it would.

+ He said Corey Smith and Michael Thomas are definitely in the rotation this season.

+ Meyer said that tight end Marcus Baugh has worked hard but has "one foot in and one foot out" right now. He said he's not out of the woods yet given his troubles in the past.

+ Meyer said cornerback Eli Apple had another good practice on Wednesday.

+ Meyer said Chris Worley had a chance to get his black stripe removed today but lost the circle drill that would have made it happen.
