the-Ozone Staff Picks

It has become my philosophy to pick against what makes the most sense. But I have no idea what makes sense in this game, so I'm flipping a coin. Ohio State 69, Michigan 66 — Rob Ogden (4-6)
The Buckeyes come into this game with two wins over ranked teams on the road and three straight overall. The Wolverines come in with a road loss to Iowa and face another tough task. It seems lineup changes have made a difference for OSU, but this will be another difficult test. It will be tight – as Ohio State's games tend to be – but the home court and a recent confidence in late-game situations provide the Buckeyes with the narrow edge. Ohio State 72 Michigan 67 — Patrick Murphy (3-6)
After a brutal month of January, the Buckeyes have suddenly won three straight games, including an 18-point thrashing of Purdue the last time out. This is usually the time of year Thad Matta's teams start to figure things out, but Michigan has already won games at Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan State this year. They've lost their past two road games at Indiana and Iowa, but this just feels like a bad matchup for an Ohio State team that struggles to score. Michigan 70, Ohio State 67— Brandon Castel (2-4)
One of my most prominent sports theories is that as long as coaching and talent are similar, a rival should never beat you at home. This theory feels even better right now with the way Michigan has played in their last two road games. The Buckeyes have won three in a row and might actually be on some type of a hot streak right now. Their improved shooting will be needed in this one, because the Wolverines will score. But I have to think the Buckeyes score more. Though I get the feeling that Lenzelle Smith might be in line for an off night. Ohio State 73 - Michigan 71 — Tony Gerdeman
Drat! Rob Ogden already flipped a coin, so that’s out, and my Ouiji board is in the shop for repairs. The Wolverines have looked really, really good at times, and at times just plain miserable. Most of their miserable has been on the road, and Columbus has to be a place that is really, really miserable for any U of M athlete to visit. On the basis of that in-depth analysis, I'm going with the Buckeyes. Ohio State 76, Michigan 71. — John Porentas (2-7)
