Football Recruiting
2014 Georgia Athlete Calls Ohio State His ‘Dream School’
By Michael Chung

The first BCS standings came out Sunday, and to no one’s surprise, the top two teams were once again from the SEC. In fact, four of the top 10 teams in the BCS standings hail from the Southeastern Conference, and it’s no secret the SEC has been the dominant conference over the last six seasons.

It is looking like they may make it seven straight years of championships, and for Ohio State to challenge more powerful conferences like the SEC, they will have to beat them out for recruits.

Myles Autry is such a recruit. Out of Norcross High School in Georgia, the heart of SEC country, Autry already possesses offers from SEC schools like Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Georgia, along with Florida State and Georgia Tech, where his brother, Anthony Autry, is a freshman wideout.

This 5-9, 175-pound athlete is being recruited primarily as a RB in the class of 2014, and also has an offer from the Buckeyes. Ohio State is likely to take least two running backs for the 2014 class and Autry could very well be one of them. He  has strong Ohio State interest but has an older brother who plays in the ACC.

Can the Buckeyes lure this speedy athlete in the heart of SEC country to Columbus? He recently took some time to talk with The-Ozone about the Buckeyes and his recruitment.

Ozone: How did you hear about your OSU offer?

Autry: Coach Mark Pantoni and I Facebook and he told me he would get on the phone with the RB coach and talk to him about me. Then, Mr. Pantoni came to Georgia and told me they liked how I played and offered me. I am going to a home game, maybe the next one.

Ozone: What is your top 5 right now?

Autry: I do not have one and think it is too early; I am still taking it day by day. OSU offering me is big. I have loved Ohio State since I was a kid, it is a big offer, and I would say OSU would be top 3.

Ozone: Who is your leader?

Autry: I do not have a leader. My brother goes to Georgia Tech. It will be hard a decision because I want to play with my brother but Ohio State is my dream school. I was on Ohio State fan as a kid.

Ozone: Who was your favorite Buckeye?

Autry: When I was younger, I loved Troy Smith, Santonio Holmes, and Ted Ginn. I loved OSU.

Ozone: What was your best OSU memory?

Autry: I really don’t have one. The main game I remember was a bowl game that Ted Ginn took the kick-off all the way back for a TD. Then he got hurt as players were pilling on him.

Ozone: What do you think about Urban Meyer as the head coach of OSU?

Autry: He is a great coach. He took Florida to championships. He knows how to put guys like me in the NFL. Look at Percy Harvin, we have a similar game. Urban is a good coach and at OSU he is doing great. He is beating every team they are playing, 63 against Nebraska. Urban Meyer knows were the good football is at and it is in Georgia, and he is recruiting in Georgia hard. He is trying to change OSU into more of an SEC style team and you can see it happening.

Ozone: Which coaches have you formed the best relationships with?

Autry: I am closest to Pantoni and to coach (Mike) Sewak of Georgia Tech.

Ozone: Ozone: When do you think you will decide? Which schools will you visit?

Autry: I think I will decide late my senior year. I still have five official visits to take so I will go day-by-day. I want to wake up someday and feel if it is right. I could wake up tomorrow and feel it is right, but it will probably be sometime next year. I want to take all 5 official visits before I decide.

Ozone: What is your best position?

Autry: RB. OSU said I will be at RB. I play WR also.
