Michigan Game Visitor List
Monster Recruiting Weekend on Tap for Buckeyes
By Michael Chung

OK, where do we start? Close to 80 visitors will be gracing the confines of Ohio Stadium during “The Game” on Saturday. It is clearly the largest recruiting weekend of the season, which means current commits, 2013/2014 offered players and potential offers will be visiting.

The list of visitors to the Ohio State-Michigan game is about as long as one to a royal wedding and almost as distinguished. Unfortunately names like David Dawson, Mike Mitchell, Skai Moore, Tony Stevens, Jalen Tabor, and Vonn Bell will not be on that list, mostly due to playoff games and flight issues. Dorian Johnson was originally scheduled to attend but cancelled the visit due to his commitment to Pitt.

There are some major names of note, the first one being James Quick.

Quick already visited for the Nebraska game and indicated that it was a great visit. This Saturday is likely an official visit so Meyer and Co. will need to close the deal quickly as Quick is scheduled to announce during the Under Armour All Star Game January 4. Rumors continue that Charlie Strong may not be at Louisville next year and likely be in the SEC at Tennessee, Auburn, and the most likely destination Arkansas. If Strong goes to Tennessee, the Vols are in play as Knoxville is not too far from Louisville. It looks good that OSU can land Quick unless he decides to follow Strong to his next destination. Quick is a near lock to Louisville if Strong stays.

Wideout Shelton Gibson has long been considered an Ohio State lean and will once again visit OSU for the Michigan game. Gibson’s recruitment has kind of been a soap opera saga. At once, it was thought Gibson would commit in the summer but then rumors were that Gibson had academic issues, something the-Ozone has not confirmed. But 2013 commit Darron Lee told The-Ozone that Shelton Gibson was the most impressive WR at Friday Night Lights and no one could keep up with him. He is an Ohio kid and if he is ready and Ohio State is ready, there is no reason to think Gibson should not be Buckeye.

DL prospect Donovan Munger will be at the game but it does not look good that he would be Buckeye. With the need for O-linemen and LBs and Munger being neither, it looks like Munger will go elsewhere unless he would be open to the O-line, but he will be visiting.

Florida commit Daniel McMillian will be making an official visit with his mother. He told Ozone that he would visit and has kept his word. He will be here until Sunday but in the end, I do not see him de-committing from UF unless something crazy happens over the weekend and he and mother are blown away.

Linebacker Trey Johnson will also be on an official visit. He is currently an Auburn commit but has told the-Ozone that the coaching situation and potential change has him looking around. Outlets have stated that OSU, USC, and UF are in the lead but he told the-Ozone that Auburn is ahead and everyone is equally second. Look for his official visit to close the gap, especially if Gene Chizik is fired from Auburn.

It looks like Chizik is in jeopardy having lost every single SEC game, a 3-8 record and now an NCAA investigation. Pat Forde of Yahoo sports writes, “According to multiple sources, NCAA investigators have spent weeks looking into potential improprieties involving Auburn recruits, players, coaches, representatives of the school's athletic interests and third parties. Assistant coaches Trooper Taylor and Curtis Luper have been scrutinized by the NCAA, sources said. Taylor is the assistant head coach and wide receivers coach, while Luper coaches running backs and is the recruiting coordinator.”

With this in play, this weekend could catapult OSU into the lead.

Cleveland-Glenville’s Chris Worley will also be in attendance. He was scheduled to announce this week but has delayed his announcement. A source revealed to the-Ozone that Worley will chose Ohio State but until he officially announces, all is speculation. Worley will be visiting with fellow Tarblooders and Buckeye 2014 targets OL Marcelys Jones and ATH Marshon Lattimore. Jones told Ozone that he, Chris Worley and Marshon Lattimore would like to play together. In the end, I see the C-G pipeline flowing with Worley and then Jones and Lattimore to follow.

Some notable 2014 prospects are linebackers Clifton Garrett from Illinois and Raekwon McMillan out of Georgia. McMillan told the-Ozone that Ohio State was his leader but also had Clemson, Georgia and Alabama as his top 4. This list does not seemed to have changed too much. Nick Glass told the-Ozone that Clifton Garrett liked Ohio State so a good visit for both could go a long way in securing their commitment for 2014. Recent OSU 2014 target Kyle Berger was also offered and will be in attendance with fellow St. Ignatius OL target Jimmy Byrne.

2015 Ohio prospects: RB Darrin Hall, RB Jason Simon, and WR Eric Glover-Williams will also be attending. Here is a list of commits and OSU targets who have offers that will be attending this weekend.
