Ohio State Recruiting: Prep Report
By Tony Gerdeman

As the high school football season comes to a close, so do the high school careers of the 18 current Buckeye commits. One Buckeye has already won a state championship this season, and three more will play for one this weekend. There are just five commits still playing after this past weekend's action.

Three-time defending state champion Tarboro (14-0) is headed to its fifth-consecutive state championship game thanks to a 46-0 win over South Columbus. Tarboro held South Columbus to just 168 yards of total offense, most of which came well after the game was no longer in doubt.

Tim Gardner (OL), Indianapolis, IN Lawrence Central HS
Gardner's Lawrence Central Bears (15-0) won the Class 5A State Championship with a 39-14 win over Fort Wayne Snider. Gardner helped pave the way for 193 yards rushing from tailback Isaiah Townsend and 228 yards passing from quarterback Drake Christen.

Taivon Jacobs (WR), District Heights, MD Suitland HS
Jacobs' season is over, but he finished the year with 43 receptions for 1,044 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Michael Hill (DT), Pendleton, SC Pendleton HS
Hill's season is over due to a finger injury.

Darron Lee (ATH), New Albany, OH New Albany HS
New Albany (11-3) had their season come to an end following a 33-32 loss to Trotwood. Lee had a 22-yard touchdown pass, and also helped get his team down the field in the final seconds for a 27-yard field goal, which was missed.

Johnny Townsend (P), Orlando, FL Boone HS
Boone finished 6-4 on the year. Townsend will play in the Army All-American Game.

Joey Bosa (DL), Fort Lauderdale, FL St. Thomas Aquinas
St. Thomas Aquinas (10-2) got an easy 38-7 win over Plantation in a 7A regional semifinal. Bosa recorded a sack for a safety in the game. However, late in the fourth quarter he was ejected for a personal foul and has since been suspended this weekend's regional final.

J.T. Barrett (QB), Wichita Falls, TX Rider HS
Barrett's season is over due to a knee injury. He played in four games before being injured early in the fifth. He finished with 723 yards passing and five touchdowns, and 524 yards rushing and six touchdowns.

Tracy Sprinkle (DL), Elyria, OH Elyria HS
Elyria's season is over. Sprinkle finished the year with 103 tackles, 19 sacks (which led the state, per the Elyria Chronicle Telegram) and 30 tackles for loss. Sprinkle was named the Ohio Division-I Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

Marcus Baugh (TE), Riverside, CA J.W. North HS
J.W. North ended up 6-5 on the year. Baugh finished the season with 38 receptions for 610 yards and three touchdowns. He also finished with 44 tackles.

He rushed for 218 yards and two touchdowns, caught five passes for 72 yards and returned four kicks for 129 yards, including one that went 84 yards for a touchdown. He averaged 46.7 yards on his seven kickoff returns this season, and 34.9 yards on his 15 punt returns. For the season, he amassed 3,388 all-purpose yards, an average of 242 yards per game.
