Ohio State Recruiting: Prep Report

There is just one Buckeye commit who is still playing in the playoffs, and even he was suspended last week. The season ended for four others commits this past weekend, with only Jayme Thompson coming away as a state champ. There are a number of future Buckeyes who will be playing in the various high school All-American games in a month, however.

Tyquan Lewis (DE/OLB), Tarboro, NC Tarboro HS

Tarboro (14-1) fell 24-20 to East Lincoln in the state championship game. Lewis played through a lower leg injury and did record a sack. It was Tarboro's fifth consecutive title game appearance. They had won three in a row until last weekend's loss.

Tim Gardner (OL), Indianapolis, IN Lawrence Central HS

The Lawrence Central Bears (15-0) won the Class 5A State Championship the week before. Gardner will reportedly be making his official visit to Ohio State this weekend.

Taivon Jacobs (WR), District Heights, MD Suitland HS
Jacobs' season is over, but he finished the year with 43 receptions for 1,044 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Michael Hill (DT), Pendleton, SC Pendleton HS
Hill's season is over due to a finger injury. He is an Army All-American and is Rivals' #8-ranked defensive tackle.

Darron Lee (ATH), New Albany, OH New Albany HS
New Albany finished the year 11-3. Lee was named First-Team Division II All-Ohio as a defensive back.

Johnny Townsend (P), Orlando, FL Boone HS
Boone finished 6-4 on the year. Townsend will play in the Army All-American Game.

Joey Bosa (DL), Fort Lauderdale, FL St. Thomas Aquinas
St. Thomas Aquinas (11-2) advanced to the state semifinals with a 38-24 win over Boyd Anderson. Bosa was suspended for the game. He is an Under Armour All-American.

J.T. Barrett (QB), Wichita Falls, TX Rider HS
Barrett's season is over due to a knee injury. He played in four games before being injured early in the fifth. He finished with 723 yards passing and five touchdowns, and 524 yards rushing and six touchdowns. Barrett has been selected to the roster of the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl, though don't expect him to play.

Tracy Sprinkle (DL), Elyria, OH Elyria HS
Elyria's season is over. Sprinkle finished the year with 103 tackles, 19 sacks (which led the state, per the Elyria Chronicle Telegram) and 30 tackles for loss. Sprinkle was named the Ohio Division-I Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

Marcus Baugh (TE), Riverside, CA J.W. North HS
J.W. North ended up 6-5 on the year. Baugh finished the season with 38 receptions for 610 yards and three touchdowns. He also finished with 44 tackles. Baugh is an Under Armour All-American.

Ezekiel Elliott (RB), St. Louis, MO, John Burroughs HS Elliott finished the season with 50 total touchdowns, which was 11 more than anybody else in the St. Louis area. He rushed for 2,155 yards on 203 carries (10.6 ypc), and had 383 yards receiving. He averaged 46.7 yards on his seven kickoff returns this season, and 34.9 yards on his 15 punt returns. For the season, he amassed 3,388 all-purpose yards, an average of 242 yards per game. Elliott is an Army All-American.

Jayme Thompson (DB), Toledo, OH, Central Catholic HS
Toledo Central Catholic (14-1) won the Division II state championship with a 16-12 win over Trotwood. Thompson was a part in keeping Trotwood from crossing midfield until the fourth quarter. He was named First Team Division II All-Ohio.

Evan Lisle (OT), Centerville, OH, Centerville HS
Centerville's season is over. They finished with a 6-4 record. Lisle is an Army All-American.

Eli Woodard (CB), Voorhees, NJ, Eastern HS
Eastern (7-4) fell 30-27 to Southern Regional in the playoffs. Woodard caught four passes for 65 yards. He is also an Army All-American.

Billy Price (DL/OL), Youngstown, OH, Austintown Fitch
Fitch finished with a 9-2 record this season. He earned the Ohio Co-Defensive Player of the Year Award, sharing it with Tracy Sprinkle and Cincinnati Moeller's Shane Jones.

Jalin Marshall (QB), Middletown, OH, Middletown HS
Middletown's season is over after finishing with a 4-6 record. For the season, Marshall threw for 765 yards and 11 touchdowns and rushed for 1,421 yards and 14 touchdowns. He is an Under Armour All-American.

Cameron Burrows (DB), Trotwood, OH, Trotwood HS
Burrows and Trotwood (12-3) fell 16-12 to Toledo Central Catholic. Burrows, an Under Armour All-American, will take his official visit to Ohio State this weekend.
