Live Updates: US Army Bowl Practices in San Antonio
By Michael Chung

SAN ANTONIO, Tex. — Ozone correspondent Michael Chung is down in San Antonio, Tex. today for the first wave of practices leading up to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday.

This is the biggest high school all-star game in the country, and the Buckeyes are well represented down in Texas with five commitments and a number of big-time targets playing in this year’s game.

That includes 5-star linebacker Mike Mitchell out of Prestonwood Academy in Plano, Tex. and wideout James Quick out of Louisville, who was recently named Mr. Football in the state of Kentucky.

Both players are expected to make their highly-anticipated announcements on Saturday during the classic East vs. West match-up (1 p.m. ET, NBC) in San Antonio’s Alamodome.

Chung was at practice for both the East and West squads today, and he will have updates on all of Ohio State’s committed prospects. That includes defensive back Eli Apple (formerly Woodard), offensive lineman Evan Lisle, defensive tackle Michael Hill and punter Johnny Townsend, all of whom are playing for the East squad Saturday.

Dynamic tailback Ezekiel Elliott of out of St. Louis will play for the West team, but is reportedly working out with the defensive backs today instead of the running backs.

Here are some more live updates from Ozone Recruiting Analyst Michael Chung:

* Mike Mitchell has been hanging with Buckeye commits. Would be shocked if he did not commit to Ohio State.

* James Quick has not been hanging with Ohio State recruits. A source here in San Antonio believes he stays close to home.

* News on James Quick has been mixed but it looks like he stays UL according to source here in San Antonio.

* Sounds like a lot of conflicting news on Quick. I will try to interview him after practice.

* Townsend is booming punts. 45-55 yarders. Shelton Gibson on punt return team but no James Quick.

* Both Quick and Shelton Gibson on Kick return team with a few others.

* Evan Lisle OL and James Quick on first team offense for the East.
