Football Recruiting
Looking Forward: 2014 Offensive Linemen
By Tony Gerdeman

Ohio State already has two offensive linemen committed in Marcelys Jones and Kyle Trout. Both are from Ohio, as Urban Meyer has locked up two in-state talents, meaning the Buckeyes can now focus a bit more on some out-of-state recruits.

With Jones projecting as a guard and Trout a tackle, you can probably expect another at each of those positions to fill out this class. The following are the prospects with legitimate interest in the Buckeyes, and all have received Ohio State offers. More names will emerge, and some will drop off, but this will give you a good start.

Braden Smith (6-6 282) Olathe KS (Uncommitted)
#1 OG 247 Sports, #2 OT Scout, #2 OT Rivals
There is some debate as to whether Smith projects as a guard or a tackle in college. He plays guard in high school, but many feel his athleticism projects better to the edge. He has offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, South Carolina and Stanford. He is wide open at this point, but will be visiting Ohio State per 247 Sports. Highlights

Damian Prince (6-7 300) District Hts MD (Uncommitted)
#2 OT 247 Sports, #7 OT Scout, #3 OT Rivals
Prince did not give up a sack last season while playing both ways. He has offers from Ohio State, Florida State, Alabama, Michigan, Oklahoma, USC and South Carolina. It appears that Florida State, Alabama and Ohio State are his three favorites at the moment. Highlights

Kyle Trout (6-6 285) Lancaster OH (Ohio State)
#12 OT 247 Sports, #16 OT Scout, #32 OL Rivals
Trout committed to Ohio State about two weeks after he received an offer. He projects as a tackle in college. He also had offers from West Virginia, Illinois, Michigan State, Indiana and Pittsburgh. He may be the top offensive lineman in the state, according to some. Highlights

K.C. McDermott (6-6 285) W Palm Bch FL (Uncommitted)
#3 OT 247 Sports, #6 OT Scout, #5 OL Rivals
McDermott is a five-star candidate with offers from Ohio State, Alabama, Miami (FL), Notre Dame, Florida, Michigan and Oklahoma. Miami is his leader, as he has a brother who is already there. Highlights

Marcelys Jones (6-5 325) Cleveland OH (Ohio State)
#7 OG 247 Sports, NR Scout, NR Rivals
Jones committed to Ohio State on Christmas Day. He currently has offers from Florida State, Michigan State and UCLA as well. He is also hearing from Florida, and tweeted that he would like to take a visit to Gainesville. He projects as a guard in college. Highlights

Jamarco Jones (6-6 290) Chicago IL (Uncommitted)
#4 OT 247 Sports, #5 OT Scout,  #16 OL Rivals
Jones took a recent visit to Ohio State that went very well. Many consider the Buckeyes the favorites in this race. He also has offers from Michigan, Florida, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Tennessee and UCLA. He is long, athletic, and moves well for a big man. Highlights

Alex Bars (6-6 287) Nashville TN (Uncommitted)
#20 OT 247 Sports, #24 OT Scout, #6 OL Rivals
Bars has older brothers at both Penn State and Michigan. He has offers Ohio State, South Carolina, Florida, Michigan, Florida State, Penn State, Stanford and Tennessee. Ohio State is recruiting him as a tackle. Expect him to take a visit to Columbus in the future. Highlights

Mason Cole (6-4 285) Tarpon Springs FL (Uncommitted)
#4 OG 247 Sports, #19 OT Scout, #17 OL Rivals
Cole has offers from virtually all of the nation's top programs, including Ohio State, Alabama, Notre Dame, USC, Stanford, Clemson, Florida State and Michigan. While he is a Florida kid, he has a great deal of interest in the Midwest schools. Michigan is certainly a team to watch here. He is also teammates with 2014 WR Artavis Scott and 2015 George Campbell. Both have verbal offers from Ohio State. Highlights

Orlando Brown Jr. (6-7 345) Suwanee GA (Uncommitted)
#26 OT 247 Sports, #33 OT Scout, NR Rivals
Brown is the son of the late Orlando Brown, who was a long-time offensive tackle for the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens. Despite a relatively low ranking, he has offers from the likes of Ohio State, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida State, Oklahoma, Texas, USC and Notre Dame. Basically, he can go anywhere he wants. He attends the same high school as Cameron Heyward and Bradley Roby. Highlights

Denzel Ward (6-8 295) Chicago IL (Uncommitted)
#43 OT 247 Sports, NR Scout, NR Rival
s
Ward was a quick commit to Michigan, but has since decommitted and re-opened his recruitment. Ohio State has been in contact and they have offered. Ward also has offers from Florida, Wisconsin, Arizona State and Michigan. Highlights

Chad Mavety (6-6 320) Garden City NY (JUCO)
NR 247 Sports, NR Scout, NR Rivals
Mavety is a junior college prospect who plans to visit Ohio State this spring. He has offers from the Buckeyes, as well Virginia Tech, Miami (FL), North Carolina State and Kansas State. Highlights

Quenton Nelson (6-5 285) Red Bank NJ (Uncommitted)
#18 OG 247 Sports, NR Scout, #8 OL Rivals
Ohio State offered Nelson back in the Fall, and they are still after him. He also has offers from Miami (FL), Michigan State, Stanford, Penn State, Wisconsin and Maryland. He is planning to visit Ohio State in the Spring. Highlights
