Football Recruiting
A Closer Look at 2014 WR Dominique Booth
By Michael Chung

Urban Meyer is looking for playmakers. He finally found a few of them in 2013 class, but that certainly doesn’t mean he is done looking.

Playmakers make the defense uneasy. If they press too close, the playmaker can blow by them. If they give too much space, the playmaker can catch the ball then make some moves to elude tacklers.

Ideally, Meyer would like to have a deep stable of them, which is why he will be looking to add a few more in the class of 2014.

One player who has turned some heads lately is Indianapolis WR Dominique Booth. He recently won the offensive MVP during the Core 6 Athletes showcase in Cincinnati. The 6-1, 195-pound wideout does not have an Ohio State offer yet but the coaches are keeping in contact with him and seem to be indicating an offer could be coming soon.

Booth has indicated he does not want to draw out his recruitment and plans to decide soon. He recently took some time to talk to The-Ozone.

Ozone: You won the MVP at the Core 6 Athletes showcase in Cincinnati, tell us about the competition.

Booth: I took advantage of drills and one-on-ones, I dominated them. I had some TDs and catches.

Ozone: Are you in contact with OSU coaches?

Booth: Yes, coach (Kerry) Coombs and coach Zach Smith.

Ozone: Do you have a top 5?

Booth: Mississippi State, Missouri, Michigan State, Tennessee and Indiana. OSU may move into the top 5 with an offer but this top 5 is in no specific order. I do not have a leader.

Ozone: What are the OSU coaches saying to you in regards to an offer?

Booth: Be patient and it will come, they say everything I could do I did. My coach says it is a matter of time.

Ozone: What does coach Meyer tell you in your conversations?

Booth: I talked to coach Meyer a little when I was on campus. He said that he was impressed with my route running and playmaking ability.

Ozone: Other than Ohio State, which coaching staffs have you formed the best relationships with?

Booth: Tennessee. Butch Jones was recruiting me when he was at Cincinnati.

Ozone: What is Butch Jones like?

Booth: He is calm, mellow, talks about deeper things, a real cool person to talk to and he gives advice about life. I am really close to him and the Tennessee staff.

Ozone: What is your average 40 time?

Booth: 4.47

Ozone: When are you hoping to decide?

Booth: Sometime in mid-April.

Ozone: Have coaches called you after you won MVP at Core 6 Athletes showcase?

Booth: Some have messaged me on Facebook and saw I won, tell me keep working hard.
