Football Recruiting
Settling Down with Tim Settle
By Michael Chung

DaShawn Hand, the #1 prospect for 2014 by some services, has publicly stated that he does not have OSU interest and that his first visit did not go well. On top of that, there is a good chance he could go to Michigan.

But another 5-star rated defensive lineman from Virginia may have different thoughts.  The 6’3” 305 lbs defensive tackle from Manassas, VA, Tim Settle recently attended the Nike Football Training Camp in Columbus and had a chance to visit Ohio State.  Bud Elliott of SBNation wrote in regards to Settle’s visit: “"It was awesome," Settle said. "It's everything. The coaches were telling us how much [an Ohio State] degree means after college. They have a good athletic program and a good academic program. I could see myself playing here. I like it."

Elliott goes on to write, “Settle is being recruited by coaches Zach Smith and Mike Vrabel, with whom he has a great connection.”

Urban Meyer believes the most important aspect of a championship team is the defensive line. He has recruited the defensive line hard in every class he has at OSU. Pursuing Settle for 2015 will be a high priority for Meyer. Settle took some time for a the-Ozonbe one on one interview.

Ozone: When did you receive your offer?
Settle: I am not sure exactly when but I think it was my 6th offer.

Ozone: Do you have a specific coaching staff that you feel closest too?
Settle: Right now I feel close to them all.

Ozone: Do you have a top 5?
Settle: I do not have one, I need to see all the schools I am interested in first. I am still young and will narrow my list one by one.

Ozone: Tell me about your Ohio State visit?
Settle: I loved it, fun environment, great people and coaches, great facilities; the atmosphere was great to be around.

Ozone: OSU has a lot of depth at the defensive line and Urban Meyer is notorious for recruiting this part of the team hard. Would the number of lineman on the defensive side influence your decision?
Settle: No, I do not care about depth. I will work hard wherever I go to earn a starting spot. I want to be around coaches who notice who works hard and who wants to win national championships. I love working out and train 4 to 5 times a week.

Ozone: Tell me about your relationship with DaShawn Hand? Do you want to play together?
Settle: We have talked about going to school together. He has been a big brother/mentor figure to me. He tells me rights and wrongs and gives me advice on recruiting. He is one of a kind and totally dominates when he plays. He is really fast and could play cornerback if he wanted to. It would be an advantage for a school in my recruitment if he were there because of our friendship.

Ozone: Do you know why DaShawn Hand does not like Ohio State?
Settle: Your perception is incorrect; he does not dislike Ohio State and has never said anything negative to me about OSU. His first visit was not too great but he has not said anything bad about them to me.

Ozone: Which schools are recruiting you the hardest?
Settle: All the schools that have offered me so far. I have a really good relationship with the OSU staff as well as others. I really like Zach Smith, he is chill but has a lot of energy.

Ozone: When do you think you will make your decision?
Settle: I will try to make it by National Signing Day 2015.
