Football Recruiting
Thaddeus Snodgrass Shares His Side of the Story
By Michael Chung

Urban Meyer mentioned in his post 2013 national signing day press conference that he wanted more talent from Ohio. In fact, better than 50% of this years’ signees were from outside the borders.

One of the top players in Ohio for 2014 is Thaddeus Snodgrass out of Sprinfield, OH, the only Ohio offer so far at wide receiver.

Ozone’s John McCalister writes, “When Thaddeus was a sophomore and he came to my camp, I thought he was one of the best sophomore receivers I had seen. I don't know how much he's matured. I know they don't throw the ball very much. I think he has to work on his concentration. He has to lose some of the swagger that he has. I think if he concentrates, he's got a chance to be really good. He's a yards after the catch guy. He can make plays. He's an excellent route runner who will also block downfield. He's got soft hands, he's a natural ball catcher and he has a strong upper body. He's just got to get a lot more self discipline. When he was a sophomore at my camp, I thought he was special.”

There was a moment back in November where it looked like Snodgrass was ready to commit, presumably to Ohio State, but it didn't happen. He delayed his announcement and today the Springfield receiver is still on the market for the 2014 class. He took some time to talk about his recruitment and offer up his side of the story.

Ozone: What actually happened when you delayed your announcement? Was there anyone asking you to wait? What happened when you talked to the OSU coaches?

They just told me what I need to do better.

Ozone: There was some talk at the time that maybe your OSU offer was not commitable, is this true? Could you have committed if you wanted too?

That's false. I could have committed anytime.

Ozone: Why haven't you committed to OSU?

Because I'm looking at other schools and see what they are offering.

Ozone: You listed Ohio State as #5 on your list; how did they drop to #5?

We just haven't really had a good connection. I just don't really talk to them all the time and we just don't really have a good relationship anymore. They stopped calling.

Ozone: Why is Penn State #1?

Because their academics and it's just like family there.

Ozone: In your talks with Urban Meyer and the OSU coaches, what have they been telling you?

What I need to do to better myself as a player.

Ozone: When are you hoping to make a decision on where you will go to school?

I don't know when, it depends on who really makes me feel at home because I also have two new offers from Kentucky and South Carolina and I wanna check the SEC out.
