Illinois Defensive Lineman Dylan Thompson is Fifth Buckeye Commit
By Tony Gerdeman
Ohio State landed their fifth verbal commitment in the 2014 class on Saturday when Dylan Thompson (Montini Catholic, Lombard, IL) gave his pledge to Urban Meyer.
The foreshadowing came Saturday morning when Thompson, who was on a weekend visit to Ohio State, tweeted
"This place is amazing!!!!! I love it!!!!"

Thompson (6-5 270) is a strongside defensive end who impressed the Buckeye coaches this winter with tremendous combine performances. He also worked out well as a defensive tackle, so his versatility is also a plus.
Thompson received his Ohio State offer in early February, and at that time the only other BCS offers he had were Illinois and Indiana. Since that time, however, he has also landed offers from Clemson, Tennessee, Arkansas, USC and Ole Miss.
Rated a three-star prospect by both 247 Sports and Scout, Thompson already possesses collegiate size, but it's his skill, tenacity and constant effort which separates him.
Thompson, who attends the same high school as former Buckeye defensive lineman Garrett Goebel, is such a good athlete that he is expected to join the volleyball team this year as well.
The Buckeyes now have one defensive line commit in the 2014 class. It's unlikely that they take as many defensive linemen in this class as they have in the previous two, when they signed 11 total.
