Football Recruiting
Offensive Lineman Tyler Gerald is Second 2016 Commit for Buckeyes
By Tony Gerdeman

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Another day, another new Buckeye commit.

This time the one to pledge his future to Ohio State is 2016 offensive lineman Tyler Gerald. Gerald is rated a four-star prospect per Scout and their #6 offensive guard in the nation.

Gerald (6-5 300) committed to the Buckeyes on Thursday following a position camp at Ohio State, choosing OSU over offers from Virginia Tech, Cincinnati, Kent State and Toledo.

From Sciotoville High School in Portsmouth, Ohio, Gerald is a small-school player, but with big-time potential. He has the toughness that is needed on the offensive line, and the mobility to be effective when run blocking.

Gerald is one piece of what could be a very productive offensive line haul from Ohio in the 2016 class. Both Liam Eichenberg (Cleveland St. Ignatius) and Tommy Kraemer (Cincinnati Elder) are already rated as five-star prospects, and together the three of them could provide quite a foundation as the Buckeyes close out the decade. There is still plenty of work to do in this regard, however.

The 2016 class now consists of two players in Gerald and Hubbard running back George Hill, and could ultimately reach 22-25 players before signing day.

2016 Ohio State Recruiting Class

RB George Hill (6-0 182) Hubbard (Hubbard, OH)

OL Tyler Gerald (6-5 300) Sciotoville (Portsmouth, OH)
