COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State coaching staff got the weekend off on a good foot by convincing five-star receiver Christian Kirk (Scottsdale, AZ) to set up an unofficial visit to OSU in two weeks.
Kirk, a 5-foot-10 195-pound prospect, has scheduled a visit to Columbus for February 27, per his Twitter account. He was also sure to mention that he wouldn't be visiting Michigan that same weekend.
Kirk is the #1 overall receiver in the class of 2015 according to 247Sports' composite ranking, which tabulates the rankings from all four major services. He was timed at 4.49 in the 40-yard dash last year at The Opening, and clocked an impressive 4.15 shuttle time. His SPARQ score of 115.83 was the tops among 2015 wide receivers.
Along with an offer from Ohio State, Kirk has offers from his home-state schools, as well as the likes of Florida, USC, Texas, Michigan, Florida State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Texas A&M, and just about anybody else you can think to name.
Kirk was named First-Team All-State as an all-purpose back in 2013 following a season where he caught 61 passes for 1,082 yards and rushed for 676 yards on 59 carries.
He primarily played receiver last season, but stepped in at running back in the state championship game and led his team to a 47-25 victory, rushing for 162 yards and catching five passes for 101 yards.
As a freshman he led his team with 34 receptions for 589 yards and six touchdowns. One year later, he bettered that with 43 catches and 1,003 yards, with 12 touchdowns.
Kirk also has visits to USC, UCLA and Oregon scheduled.
