Football Recruiting
Long Snapper Liam McCullough is Latest Commitment for Buckeyes
By Tony Gerdeman

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Urban Meyer didn't have to go far in search of a long snapper for the 2015 class, as they got a commitment from Worthington Kilbourne's Liam McCullough Tuesday evening.

McCullough (6-2 230), who goes to school 10 miles away from Ohio Stadium, broke the news via Twitter. One of the most sought after long snappers in the country, McCullough had offers from Ohio State, Michigan State, Kentucky and Wisconsin.

247Sports rates McCullough the #1 long snapper in the nation, while RubioLongSnapping.com -- perhaps the leading specialist camp in the nation -- ranks him #2 overall in the 2015 class.

Here is McCullough's evaluation from camp instructor and owner Chris Rubio:

"Liam did exceptionally well at the Rubio Long Snapping Spring Event in Las Vegas. He made it to the finals and could have EASILY won the whole event. Snaps with great power and accuracy. When he gets his head through smoothly and his hands come out at the same spot, he is the best in the country. Passes the eyeball test VERY quickly. He has very strong hands and I love how he tries to snap it through the punter. Kid is on fire right now and should just keep picking up offers throughout the summer."

Signing a long snapper in the 2015 class has been a priority for Urban Meyer, as McCullough was offered shortly after signing day back in February.

The Buckeyes will also be bringing in preferred walk-on Sam York (Marblehead, Massachusetts) this fall. He was the #3 long snapper in the nation per ProKicker.com and the #2 long snapper per Ray Guy Prosnapper.

Current Buckeye long snapper Bryce Haynes is just a junior, so McCullough could get a redshirt year under him when he arrives in 2015 if Meyer so chooses.

McCullough was the third Buckeye commitment in three days, which begs the question -- who is committing on Wednesday?
