Football Recruiting
Looking Forward: 2015 Quarterbacks
By Tony Gerdeman

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Buckeyes have landed their quarterback for the 2015 class in Joey Burrow, but they aren't necessarily done with the position if they can get a verbal commitment from the right player.

With four quarterbacks on the roster next season in Cardale Jones, J.T. Barrett, Stephen Collier and Burrow, a second quarterback is not a priority, especially since Jones will only be a redshirt junior in 2015.

What does Ohio State's target list look like right now at quarterback? Well, it's a pretty short list given the nature of the position. Some new names may emerge, but it would be a surprise at this point.

Joey Burrow (Ohio State commit) The Plains, OH
Rivals  #24 Dual-Threat Quarterback
Scout
#25 Quarterback
247Sports  #10 Dual-Threat Quarterback
ESPN Not Ranked
Burrow (6-4 205) is a pass-first quarterback who can get out of trouble with his feet. He distributes the ball quickly, which is something that the Ohio State coaches want to continue implementing in their offense. He won't need to play in 2015 unless something unforeseen happens.

Torrance Gibson (Uncommitted) Plantation, Florida
Rivals #4 Athlete
Scout
☆ #2 Quarterback
247Sports
☆ #1 Dual-Threat Quarterback
ESPN
☆ #1 Athlete
Gibson (6-4 200) is the one quarterback that the Ohio State staff will continue to recruit until the end. He is one of the best athletes in the nation and could also be a superior wide receiver. He still has some work to do in the passing game, but his arm is legitimate.

Travis Waller (Uncommitted) Anaheim, California
Rivals #4 Dual-Threat Quarterback
Scout
#6 Quarterback
247Sports
#2 Dual-Threat Quarterback
ESPN
#7 Dual-Threat Quarterback
Waller (6-3 190) and the Buckeyes were heating up over the past month, but Ohio State has yet to offer. After watching both Burrow and Waller throw in person, OSU decided on Burrow. If they want another quarterback, the Waller recruitment might pick back up again. Though it may be too late at that time.

2016 Quarterbacks

Dwayne Haskins (Uncommitted) Potomac, MD
Rivals NR
Scout Quarterback
247Sports NR
ESPN NR
Since there aren't many 2015 quarterbacks to talk about, let's look at the passers in the 2016 class. Haskins (6-2 185) is one of the hottest 2016 kids in the nation right now, picking up offers left and right. The Buckeyes could be considered the leader here, but there is a long time to February of 2016.

Malik Henry (Uncommitted) Thousand Oaks, CA
Rivals NR
Scout Quarterback
247Sports
☆ #1 Dual-Threat Quarterback
ESPN NR
Most don't expect Henry (6-3 180) to leave the west, but the Buckeyes have thrown their hat into the ring like just about everybody else in America. He does plan on visiting Ohio State at some point.

Brandon McIlwain (Uncommitted) Newtown, Penns.
Rivals NR
Scout Quarterback
247Sports
#5 Dual-Threat Quarterback
ESPN NR
The Buckeyes offered McIlwain (6-1 205) a while back, but this is looking like a Penn State battle with South Carolina at the moment.
