Football Recruiting
Mid-Week Recruiting Update — February 26th
By Tony Gerdeman

COLUMBUS, Ohio — We have talked about Orlando running back Dexter Williams (6-0 192) in the past, as he is always adding offers. Notre Dame has now joined that group, offering the tailback on Monday.

On Tuesday, he spoke to the Orlando Sentinel, saying that Georgia, Ohio State and Tennessee are standing out for him at the moment, but they are in no particular order.

"For now, but it will probably change, depending on whoever may offer me,” Williams told the Sentinel. "My goal before spring football is to earn 15 offers and then an additional five during the summer. I’m quicker, stronger and faster."

Williams originally burst onto the recruiting scene with an impressive performance at a Nike camp just over two weeks ago. Since then he has added offers from some of the top programs in the nation. The SPARQ score that he produced at the Nike combine (117.03) is the second-highest score so far this year.

Williams is hoping to verbally commit to a school during his football season.

In-State Defensive End Gets Offer
On Tuesday the news came out that Ohio State had offered Cleveland St. Ignatius defensive end Dre'mont Jones. Jones (6-5 250) was actually offered a few weeks before, but was able to keep it quiet.

Jones is rated the #10 strongside defensive end in the nation per 247Sports. They like him better than the other services, however. Rivals ranks him the #34 strongside defensive end, while Scout has him the #29 defensive end. ESPN hasn't yet ranked him.

"I was really excited," Jones told Bill Landis of Cleveland.com. "That’s my childhood school, the one I wanted to go to as a kid. It feels good because they know who I am now."

Along with his offer from Ohio State, he currently has offers from Iowa, Cincinnati and Indiana. We will have more on Jones later this week, including a scouting breakdown.

Five-Star Corner Confirms He'll Visit OSU
Cornerback Kevin Toliver (6-2 185), the nation's top corner per 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN, confirmed this week to Rivals that he would be taking all five of his official visits this year.

Those visits: LSU, Ohio State, UCLA, Virginia Tech, and Auburn.

Toliver has been committed to LSU since November of 2012, so Buckeye fans shouldn't get their hopes up. However, anything can happen once a player gets on campus.

By the way, Toliver is a teammate of current Buckeye commit Ben Edwards, as well as five-star linebacker target Jeffery Holland.

Four-Star Corner Will Visit This Weekend
Cornerback Marcus Lewis (6-1 187) will be taking an unofficial visit to Ohio State on March 1st. Lewis is ranked the #8 cornerback in the nation per Rivals, and has received offers from Michigan and Penn State in the last week.

He also has offers from Clemson, Florida State, Florida, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech. Lewis plays at Gonzaga High School in Washington, DC, which would put him in Larry Johnson's recruiting area.

Ohio State already has one cornerback committed in Jamel Dean (you can read an in-depth interview with his head coach here), and is still looking to land another.

On the Horizon
Later this week we'll have a scouting breakdown on Dre'mont Jones from John McCallister, as well as a couple of other Ohioans. On the Sunday Rundown we'll have updates on some recent offers, as well as a look at some cornerback targets.
