Buckeyes Hope to Pick Scott Patchan Into Buckeye Grove
By Michael Chung
For Urban Meyer, the defensive line is the most important aspect of a championship team. You can tell, because he recruits the DL relentlessly. He has already offered nearly 20 players a chance to play at OSU for 2015 and is always trying to lure the best of the best to Ohio. One DL he is trying to lure is Florida’s Scott Patchan.
Patchan is from Tampa, Florida. Meyer loves recruiting kids from the south, especially those with unique physical abilities. At 6’6” 230 lbs, Patchan has been clocked at 4.53 in the forty. This is freakish speed for a defensive lineman, and that makes Patchan the kind of player Meyer covets.
Patchan has great genes. His father played defensive tackle for two national championship teams at Miami, FL and his brother, who is 6’6” 300, plays at Boston College.
He has offers from his father’s alma mater—Miami, Fl—as well as Notre Dame, Tennessee, Boston College, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, and North Carolina. He is being scouted by almost every top SEC program in the south. The Buckeyes would love to bring him up north and have already offered.
He took some time to give the-Ozone readers an insight into his recruitment.

The-Ozone: How important is it for you to be close to home?
