the-Ozone Announcement:

Time and change will surely show, how firm thy friendship...

Change is inevitable in every aspect of life, and we are on the verge of a change at the-Ozone.

May 13 will be Brandon Castel's last day as a full-time reporter at the-Ozone.

BCast (as he has fondly come to be known) has been offered a position with a company in the health-wellness business in Cleveland. His role there will be to write promotional and marketing material and to write sales proposals for their sales department.

Brandon and I discussed this at great length and it was my recommendation that he take the position. He is getting a (very) substantial pay raise that we cannot possibly match, a benefit package we cannot provide, and an opportunity to grow with his new company. Additionally, he will be closer to his family which resides in the Cleveland area. As much as we absolutely love having him here, I honestly believe this move is in his best interest, and his best interest is important to me. I think this is the best thing for him to do and heartily endorse his decision.

Still, because he is who he is, Brandon agonized over all of it, so we worked something out that will allow him to continue to contribute to the-Ozone, especially during football and basketball seasons. We will still have "Ten Things" following games, etc. He will also continue to make contributions over the summer once he gets settled into his new job. He just won't be at all the weekly media events any more.

We currently have about 10 people we are evaluating to fill in for BCast, and expect that number to grow now that this has been made public. We will have at least one new person on our staff before the first of August when football resumes, so our level of coverage will not be reduced. It may actually increase since we will be adding a new person and will still have BCast on a limited basis.

Brandon departs the-Ozone on the very, very best of terms. Like he has handled everything while he was here, he handled this situation with the class and honesty he has always exhibited. I am not surprised, yet I am grateful that he is who is and conducted himself in this way.

His work will be missed, but more than that, he will be missed as a valued friend and colleague.

---John Porentas.
