In what would turn out to be Jim Tressel’s last home game ever at Ohio Stadium, the Buckeyes thumped Michigan, 37-7.

The win gave the Bucks their seventh straight win in The Game and their sixth consecutive Big Ten championship.

It was also the final game in the series for Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez, who was fired at the conclusion of the season.

The Game was close for a while. Following a scoreless first quarter, the Buckeyes struck with a short field goal and a touchdown pass to Dane Sanzenbacher.

But the Wolverines came right back with an 11-play, 80 yard drive to cut it to a 10-7 OSU lead with 8:02 left before halftime.

Then momentum swung back to the Buckeyes for good. Jordan Hall returned the ensuing kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown, and the rout was on.

DeVier Posey added a touchdown reception before half to send the Bucks to the locker room with a 24-7 lead.

They added a 32-yard Boom Herron score and a pair of field goals in the third quarter to close the scoring.

The Buckeyes would go on to win the Sugar Bowl over Arkansas, in Jim Tressel’s final game as OSU head coach.
