Meet The Newest Buckeyes: Freshmen Arrive At OSU

Ohio State football Harry Miller Buckeyes

The newest members of the Ohio State football team are arriving in Columbus this weekend.

The Buckeyes’ freshmen and grad transfers moved in to their new home Saturday and Sunday. The next round of summer semester classes starts Tuesday.

Move-in day is always a big one in a college student’s life. If you attended OSU, your memories are probably full of big red wheeled carts and a mixture of excitement and nerves.

A big chunk of the Buckeyes’ 2019 recruiting class went through that back in January when they enrolled early and went through spring practice with the team.

That group included transfer QB Justin Fields, RB Marcus Crowley, WR Garrett Wilson, OT Ryan Jacoby, DE Noah Potter and Zach Harrison, and SAF Ronnie Hickman.

The balance of the class, as well as grad transfers OL Jonah Jackson and QB Gunnar Hoak, are expected to move in this weekend.

The freshmen arriving Saturday and Sunday include RB Steele Chambers, WR Jameson Williams, TE Cormontae Hamilton, OL Harry Miller, Dawand Jones, and Enokk Vimahi, DT Jaden McKenzie, LB Cade Stover and Tommy Eichenberg, SAF Bryson Shaw, and ATH Craig Young.

Once they get moved in and say goodbye to their families, the real work begins. They will start classes on Tuesday, and can begin certain football-related activities.

There are a number of restrictions on what they can and can’t do with head coach Ryan Day and the 10 assistant coaches. But they can work out with strength coach Mickey Marotti and his staff, and hold informal practices together without those coaches present.

The Buckeyes have not announced the official start date for their 2019 fall camp, but it’s generally the first week of August.

They will kick off the 2019 season at noon on August 31 against Florida Atlantic.
