A Look Inside The New Ohio State Football Facility

Ohio State football Michigan rivalry countdown

The Ohio State football team kicked off its 2019 fall practice on Friday morning at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

There are a lot of new faces on this year’s Buckeye team and coaching staff. Even the team’s facility has a new look this fall.

The WHAC underwent a $7 million renovation that was just completed this summer. It’s the latest strike in the ongoing facilities war between the nation’s top programs.

The remodeled WHAC includes a half-court basketball area and several video games including a golf simulator.

There is a barber shop, simulation room, and plenty of areas where players can just hang out and sleep.

The first video below shows all of those.

A huge wall is dedicated specifically to the Ohio State vs. Michigan rivalry, including photos from past games, a video highlight reel from OSU wins throughout history, and a countdown to this year’s edition of The Game. It’s 120 days away, in case you’re counting.

Upstairs, there is a pool table, pop-a-shot basketball machines, and a large seating area where more than 150 people can eat.

You can look through a window out onto the indoor practice field. Another window overlooks the Buckeyes’ weight room.

Those are all shown in the second video below.

You can see the big wall dedicated to The Game in the third video below.

The hallways elsewhere inside the facility have also been redone. One includes photos and short biographies of Woody Hayes, Earle Bruce, John Cooper, Jim Tressel, Urban Meyer, and Ryan Day.

Another is a smaller, but still impressive display focused on The Game, including different photos, game balls, pairs of Gold Pants, and yet another countdown clock.

Given how much time players spend inside the facility, it’s a good thing it’s a nice place to be.

You can see a detailed rundown of the schedule for the first day of practice at the bottom of this post.
