It was Tressel-ball revisited when the Buckeyes and Irish met in Ohio Stadium in the season-opener for each team. When the dust cleared the Buckeyes had Tresselized Notre Dame by a final of 21-10. They did it with a stout defense, effective running game and enough passing to keep the Irish Honest.

After an entire off-season of hearing they were soft, the Ohio State defense showed up and made life miserable for the Notre Dame offense. Redshirt freshman Mike Hall registered four tackles, three of them soloes, and two tackles for loss. One of the TFLs was this sack of Notre Dame quarterback Tyler Buckner.
OSU wide receiver Xavier Johnson hauls in a touchdown pass from C.J. Stroud for a 24-yard touchdown strike. Johnson had four catches for 39 yards in the contest.
Treveon Henderson finds running room against the Irish. Henderson rushed for a game-high 91 yards on 16 carries to average 6.1 yards per carry.
Miyan Williams bulldozes his way into the endzone. Williams rushed for 84 yards on 14 carries to average 6.0 yards per carry.
