Rated a 5-star prospect and the No. 3 offensive tackle in the 2019 class by the 247Sports Composite, Nester (6-6 302) plays for Spring Valley High School in Huntington, West Virginia. He committed to Ohio State over offers from Alabama, Florida, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Nebraska, and Tennessee.
Nester was named First-Team All-State last season as a sophomore.
Nester played all over the offensive line for his Spring Valley team. In a run-heavy offense, he did spend quite a bit of time at guard. He shows a great burst forward on run plays and keeps his pads low and his eyes up. At tackle, he can make defensive ends disappear against the run. He provides a nice combo block and then can release to pick up a free man.
He’s not unlike current OSU freshman offensive lineman Josh Myers. Myers was seen as a tackle early on, but started out at Ohio State at guard while he learns better pass-blocking techniques.
Nester is the second major commitment of the weekend, following 2018 4-star linebacker K’Vaughan Pope.
