Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann has suspended freshman center Kaleb Wesson for one game.
OSU announced the news 45 minutes prior to Thursday night’s tip-off against Texas Southern.
“Ohio State freshman Kaleb Wesson has been suspended for the game vs. Texas Southern tonight for a failure to meet the expectations of the men’s basketball program. This is specifically regarding time management and will be a one-game suspension.”
Wesson is one of five Buckeyes averaging double figures in scoring, tallying 11.0 points per game so far after two contests. He is playing 18 minutes per night and adding in 4.5 rebounds per game.
In his place, Ohio State will have to go longer minutes with starter Micah Potter, and also manufacture some minutes with perhaps Keita Bates-Diop or Jae’Sean Tate getting time down low.
The Buckeyes and Texas Southern tip tonight at 7:01 pm. The game is available on BTN.
