Buckeyes Hit Signing Day Jackpot, Sign Nation’s Top Tackle

Nicholas Petit-Frere Ohio State Recruiting

With just a handful of days to go before Wednesday’s National Signing Day, it looked like Ohio State’s stellar 2018 recruiting class was going to be missing one crucial final piece.

The Buckeyes missed out on the nation’s no. 2 offensive tackle, Ohio native Jackson Carman, leaving a gaping hole at a position of serious need.

Over the weekend, Ohio State hosted the top-ranked OT in the country, Nicholas Petit-Frere, a native of Tampa, who had long been considered likely to end up with the Florida Gators. After his visit, that suddenly shifted.

Wednesday, he signed with Ohio State instead, filling a crucial hole on the depth chart.

Petit-Frere measures in at 6-foot-6, 272 lbs, and was a first-team all-state pick in Florida.

He is rated as the no. 7 overall prospect in the class.

Petit-Frere gives the Buckeyes two tackles in the class, along with Max Wray, who signed back in a December and enrolled at OSU early. He was ranked as the no. 10 tackle in the class.

We will have more on this commitment later.
