Friday night was a popular night for cut downs from Ohio State targets, as 4-star Michigan (West Bloomfield HS) linebacker Lance Dixon also released his latest top group. Dixon included Ohio State in his Top 5, along with B1G powers Michigan State, Wisconsin, Penn State, and Michigan.

Dixon (6-2 201) is rated the No. 252 player in the 2019 class per the 247Sports Composite, and the No. 16 outside linebacker. In 247’s own rankings, however, they see Dixon as the No. 5 outside linebacker, the No. 4 player in the state, and the No. 72 player overall.
At The Opening regional combine at Canton last month, Dixon clocked in at a laser time of 4.55 with a 4.14 shuttle time. He earned linebacker MVP at the event as well, and was then invited to The Opening national combine held next month.
Here is 247Sports’ Allen Trieu’s breakdown of Dixon.
Very good athlete with excellent speed especially at his size. Started off as a safety, but moved into the box as a linebacker his junior year. In college, he can project as a true linebacker or as a hybrid depending on the school and defensive scheme. He has rare ability to cover at his size. He can play man to man and has the makeup speed to stay with slots and running backs. He has not been used as an edge blitzer much in his high school scheme, but has the skills to do that. After one year closer to the line of scrimmage, continuing to work on taking on and shedding blocks is key for him moving forward.
The Buckeyes already have one linebacker committed in Cade Stover (No. 8 OLB), and may have a second depending on where Steele Chambers ends up. Chambers (No. 25 ATH) could play running back or linebacker. Ohio State is still recruiting running backs even with Chambers and Sampson James (No. 7) already in the fold.
