Ohio State won’t start fall football camp until Friday, but the fall recruiting season is already in high gear.
Over the weekend OSU hosted a long list of highly-touted prospects, and it appears the Buckeyes made a good impression with many of them.
It started when the Buckeyes landed a commitment from 3-star tight end Cormontae Hamilton.
Hamilton was so determined to earn a scholarship offer from Ohio State that earlier this year, he took a 24-hour round trip on Greyhound just for the chance to camp with the Buckeyes. He earned an offer that day and committed to OSU on Friday.
There were plenty of players on campus this weekend for unofficial visits who the Buckeyes would love to land.
The highest-ranked prospect in Columbus this weekend was 5-star cornerback Elias Ricks from the 2020 class.
Ricks has great size at 6-foot-2, and is rated as the No. 2 player at his position and the 13th-best player in the class.
He’s from Santa Ana, California, and making a cross-country trip on his own dime shows that the Buckeyes are a legitimate player to land his commitment.

OSU offered Ricks a scholarship over the weekend, so the chase for him is now officially on.
USC currently leads for Ricks on the Crystal Ball, but the Buckeyes just picked up their first selection.
Just behind Ricks in the 2020 rankings is Mekhail Sherman, a 5-star outside linebacker in the 2020 class.
Sherman ranks as the No. 18 player nationally and the 2nd-best outside linebacker. He’s from Washington, D.C.’s St. John’s College High School.
The Buckeyes picked up a couple new Crystal Ball predictions for Sherman over the weekend.

Sherman is not the only highly-rated prospect on his high school team who made the trip to Columbus this weekend.
Rakim Jarrett, who plays with Sherman at St. John’s College High, is the No. 46 player overall in 2020, and the 7th-best wide receiver.
He stands an even six feet tall, and holds offers from an impressive list of national powers, including Alabama and Florida State, as well as most of the Big Ten.
The Buckeyes are currently the heavy favorite to land Jarrett’s signature, holding 100 percent of his 10 Crystal Ball predictions.

While Jarrett is an immensely talented football player, his video gaming skills may need a little work.
He tweeted that he lost a game by 43 points to current OSU wide receiver Austin Mack.
Lost in 2k by 43 against @Austin_Mack10 lmaoo idk wth I was doing ?

Believe it or not, a third highly-ranked player from the 2020 class at St. John’s was also on campus this weekend.
Defensive tackle Tre Williams is rated as the No. 9 player at his position and the 124th-best overall.
Williams is entering just his junior season, but already measures 6-foot-2 and 309 lbs.
Much like his talented teammates, Williams is 100 percent to Ohio State on the Crystal Ball at the moment. However, it’s not a done deal. He tweeted Sunday, “I am not committed to ANYWHERE.”

The Buckeyes also targeted a pair of teammates from a high school in Michigan.
Bryce Mostella, a 4-star defensive end from East Kentwood High School in Grand Rapids, earned an offer from the Buckeyes over the weekend.
Mostella is already enormous at 6-foot-6 and 235 lbs. He’s currently ranked as the No. 17 weakside defensive end and 332nd-best player overall in the class.
He holds offers from about half of the Big Ten, including Michigan and Penn State. The Wolverines currently stand at 100 percent in his Crystal Ball.
Extremely happy to announce I have received my 20th offer from Ohio State University!! pic.twitter.com/MJ6rIYuAKW

Mostella wasn’t the only East Kentwood player to land a Buckeye offer over the weekend.
Dallas Fincher, a 3-star offensive lineman, ranks as the No. 20 guard and 481st-best player nationally for 2020.
Despite being lower-rated than some of the others on this list, Fincher holds offers from schools like Michigan State and Wisconsin, which are known for evaluating and developing linemen well.
His Crystal Ball currently reads 100 percent in favor of the Spartans.
I'm shocked and thrilled to say that i've received an offer from The University Of Ohio State!!!!!!!!!!!! pic.twitter.com/lsDT1geHYw

Finally, there was one more top prospect from up north in town. Wide receiver Devell Washington made the trip from Bay City, Michigan.
He’s a 6-foot-4, 200 lb target who rates as a 3-star prospect.
Washington holds offers from Ohio State and Michigan, and the Buckeyes picked up their first Crystal Ball for him over the weekend.
I had a great time at Ohio State today, can’t wait to come back!! @OhioStateFB @brianhartline @taverj @OSUCoachMeyer #GoBucks pic.twitter.com/f38KQmAvF7
