Memphis, Tennessee (Whitehaven High School) tight end Cormontae Hamilton committed to Ohio State on Friday. He announced the news via Twitter.

Hamilton (6-2 263) chose the Buckeyes over offers from Tennessee, Alabama, Louisville, Virginia Tech, and Mercer.

Ohio State offered Hamilton following his performance during Friday Night Lights in June. Hamilton took a Greyhound from his home to Columbus in order to earn an offer. He attended camps and earned offers in June from Tennessee, Louisville, and Alabama as well.

Hamilton is a 3-star prospect and the No. 30 tight end in the 2019 class and the No. 718 player overall per the 247Sports Composite.

He is a shorter tight end, but he makes up for it with physical blocking and downfield pass catching. Having performed in front of both Ohio State and Alabama and earning an offer on the spot, his shortcomings don’t appear to have held him back on the field.

Hamilton is the 15th commitment in the 2019 class for the Buckeyes.
