Tennessee Linebacker Kane Patterson Decommits from Ohio State

Kane Patterson Ohio State Recruiting Buckeyes

Recruiting fallout from the Zach Smith saga and Urban Meyer suspension has not been unexpected, and on Friday night it was reported that 4-star 2019 linebacker Kane Patterson had decommitted from Ohio State.

Patterson committed to Ohio State on July 9, choosing the Buckeyes over offers from Alabama, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and others.

Patterson was a First-Team All-State running back in 2017, rushing for 1,003 yards with 23 touchdowns. Defensively, he finished with 64 tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss. As a sophomore in 2016, he tallied 75 tackles with 18 tackles for loss and five sacks.

It remains to be seen if Ohio State will be involved again with Patterson down the road. The Buckeyes’ 2019 class now stands at 14 commits, though Patterson may not be the final departure.
