COLUMBUS — A big question unanswered coming out of the Buckeyes’ 49-6 win over Tulane on Saturday was junior running back Mike Weber’s health and status for next week’s game at Penn State.
Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer said after the game that Weber has a foot strain, but he should be fine for next week.
Weber left the game with just under 10 minutes remaining in the second quarter after a 5-yard run resulted in his right ankle being rolled up by a Tulane tackler. His shoe came completely off afterwards.
Weber limped along the Tulane sideline before walking gingerly across the field with Ohio State trainers.
Weber was on the sidelines in the fourth quarter out of pads, but he did not return to the game and finished with just six carries for 18 yards.
After practice on Wednesday, Weber was seen walking through the Woody Hayes Athletic Facility with a slight limp alongside the team doctors.

In last week’s 40-28 win over TCU, Weber did not warm up initially with the team, but he did still play in the game against the Horned Frogs.
Against Tulane, Weber warmed up completely with the team and played until his injury.
While it is unclear why Weber was slow walking off of the practice field on Wednesday, Meyer made it clear that Weber’s injury on Saturday was minor and he should be ready to play at Penn State.
This is good news for the Buckeyes, who could certainly use the the skills of both Weber and sophomore tailback J.K. Dobbins in Happy Valley a week from tonight.
