Nicholas Petit-Frere, Jack Jamieson Lose Black Stripes

Ohio State football offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere

The Ohio State football team gained two new official members on Tuesday, including the highest-ranked player in the Buckeyes’ 2018 recruiting class.

Offensive linemen Nicholas Petit-Frere and Jack Jamieson both lost their black stripes during practice.

Petit-Frere was a 5-star recruit, ranked as the No. 7 overall player in the 2018 class.

His recruitment came right down to the wire, but he signed a Letter of Intent with the Buckeyes on February’s National Signing Day.

Urban Meyer practically gushed about Petit-Frere after he signed, calling him, “the most thorough evaluator I ever recruited.”

The freshman didn’t enroll until the summer, but almost immediately earned a spot on the two-deep. He has been listed as the backup right tackle since the start of the season and saw action in each of the Buckeyes’ first two games.

The OSU coaching staff clearly views Petit-Frere as a long-term impact player for the program. He will likely be one of the favorites to take over at right tackle for Isaiah Prince following this season.

Jack Jamieson arrived at Ohio State with just a little less fanfare than Petit-Frere.

Jamieson was a preferred walk-on from the powerhouse St. Ignatius program in Cleveland.

In the video announcing his stripe removal, Ryan Stamper calls Jamieson “Joe Burrow’s long-lost twin.”
