Jack Miller, a 4-star quarterback prospect from Arizona who is committed to Ohio State’s 2020 recruiting class will miss the rest of this season with an injury.
Miller announced the news on Twitter Thursday evening.
“This has been an unforgettable season with my teammates but due to my knee injury my doctor will not clear me to return to the field, I’m recovering great and I will be back better! My boys got this!” Miller wrote.
Miller suffered the injury two weeks ago when his school, Chaparral, lost to Phoenix Mountain Pointe.
It was diagnosed as a high-grade, medial collateral knee sprain, and Miller was originally expected to miss three weeks of action, but potentially be ready to return for the state playoffs on November 2.
Now, that won’t happen.
Miller finishes his junior season with 2,431 yards passing and 27 touchdowns against just six interceptions. He took a big step forward statistically this year, despite playing in just eight games.
He finished his sophomore season of 2017 with 1,735 yards and 20 scores in 11 games.
Miller still has another season of high school football ahead, so this injury is obviously not expected to impact him when he gets to Columbus in 2020.
He committed to the Buckeyes on July 1, following a visit for the Friday Night Lights recruiting event. During that visit, Miller spoke with reporters and shared some insights into why he thought the Buckeyes were a good fit.
Buckeye fans will still have a reason to keep an eye on Chaparral games this fall. That’s because Miller’s high school teammate, RB Darvon Hubbard, is also committed to OSU’s 2020 class.
Hubbard has been slowed by an ankle sprain this season.
