For the second time in two days since Urban Meyer announced his retirement, a prospect has decommitted from Ohio State’s 2020 recruiting class.
Offensive lineman Jake Wray, a 4-star prospect from Georgia, decommitted Tuesday morning. That comes just one day after 4-star safety Lejond Cavazos backed out of his pledge.
Wray is the younger brother of Max Wray, a true freshman backup offensive lineman on Ohio State.
The younger Wray is ranked as the No. 123 player overall in the 2020 class, and 16th-best offensive tackle.
He tweeted out a statement Tuesday morning wishing Meyer the best on his retirement.
However, he said “committing early had only one big loop hole for me – no major coaching changes. As the program adjusts, I need to de-commit and re-evaluate my recruitment.”
Wray says he still considers Ohio State one of his top schools.
Like Cavazos, it’s possible he will still end up a Buckeye when all is said and done.
For now, his decommitment leaves OSU with five players in the 2020 class.
