Buckeyes Land Commitment From 2020 OT Trey Leroux

Ohio State Buckeyes football Troy Leroux

Offensive line is a position of major need for Ohio State’s 2020 recruiting class. Monday night, the Buckeyes just scored another commitment from an in-state prospect.

Trey Leroux, a tackle prospect from Monroeville, Ohio just committed to the Bucks.

Leroux was only offered a scholarship three days earlier.

He is currently ranked as the 38th-best player in the state of Ohio and the No. 911 player nationally.

Leroux also holds scholarship offers from schools like Indiana, Kentucky, Purdue, and West Virginia.

He stands 6-foot-8 and already weighs 320 lbs., so he will likely have to stay at tackle to play. That kind of height can make it tough for a player to slide in to the interior of the line.

Leroux plays left tackle for Norwalk High School. His highlight reel (below) shows him simply overwhelming a number of smaller opponents. However, he also shows decent agility to get downfield on some plays to block for screens.

Stick around for at least two plays to watch Leroux completely erase some poor defensive back. If you like watching people get pancaked, this is the highlight tape for you.

Leroux is the fourth offensive lineman to commit to OSU’s class of 2020, joining 5-star Paris Johnson, 4-star Luke Wypler, and 3-star Jakob James.

Johnson and James are also from Ohio. They are part of a new trend under Ryan Day, offering in-state prospects – and offensive linemen in particular – earlier in the recruiting cycle.

The Buckeyes had missed out on multiple in-state linemen in recent seasons, but those early offers seem to be putting an end to that.

OSU is expected to take five or six offensive linemen total for 2020. The team is a little short of bodies at the position now, and will lose Josh Alabi, Branden Bowen, Jonah Jackson, and Kevin Woidke after this fall.
