Hours after releasing a Top Six of Washington, Alabama, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Penn State, and Florida late Tuesday night, 4-star running back Sam Adams II (Eastside Catholic/Sammamish, WA) has scheduled an official visit to OSU for the weekend of June 21.
That weekend is also expected to be Ohio State’s annual Friday Night Lights camp. It was already going to be a huge recruiting weekend for head coach Ryan Day, and Adams’ visit makes it even bigger.
Adams (6-2 200) is the No. 16 running back in the 2020 class per the 247Sports Composite and the No. 174 player overall. He is teammates with current OSU wide receiver commit Gee Scott, Jr.
Adams, the son of former NFL defensive tackle Sam Adams, has earned an invite to The Opening finals and will also play in the All-American Bowl (formerly the Army All-American Bowl) in January.
As a junior, Adams rushed for 929 yards on 94 carries, scoring 17 touchdowns.
A tough runner, Adams is still growing into his frame. He runs through arm tackles and has the speed to go the distance once he hits the second level.
Ohio State has seen growing interest from running backs all over the nation of late. The nation’s top tailback, Zachary Evans, surprisingly included OSU in his Top 5 this week. Five-star California running back Kendall Milton will be making his official visit to Ohio State this weekend. And now Adams has set a visit for next month.
Five-star Arizona tailback Bijan Robinson has his official visit to Ohio State scheduled for June 14. He is the No. 5 running back in the nation and averaged a ridiculous 14 yards per carry last season. Robinson is also teammates with 4-star safety Lathan Ransom, who is scheduled to visit Ohio State the week after Robinson.
Four-star Akron running back DeaMonte Trayanum has his official visit to Ohio State scheduled for June 17 per 247Sports.
The Buckeyes will likely take multiple running backs in this class and right now it appears that they have more possibilities than at any other point in the recruiting cycle.
