It’s not totally clear yet at which position 3-star athlete Cameron Martinez will start his college career. But he now knows which school he’ll be playing for.
Martinez just announced that he was committed to Ohio State’s 2020 recruiting class.

He is ranked as the No. 22 athlete and 381st-best player overall.
Martinez chose the Buckeyes over an impressive list of suitors including Michigan, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Penn State, Wisconsin, and virtually every school in the midwest.
He was named the Michigan High School Player Of The Year in 2018 by MLive after a standout season for Muskegon High.
Martinez played quarterback in a run-heavy offense, and averaged 10 yards per carry on the ground. He rushed for 211 yards in Muskegon’s state championship game loss to Detroit King in 2018.
His final stats were completely absurd: 254 rushes for 2,527 yards and 38 touchdowns. Martinez went 31-for-58 for 645 yards and 13 touchdowns against just one interception through the air.
However, his future at the college level likely lies with either the wide receiver unit or the defensive backs.
Martinez is 6-feet tall and 195 lbs., so he could profile as an H or Z receiver with the Buckeyes.
However, the fluidity and athleticism that makes him tough to tackle on offense could also make him a top-level cornerback.
That is a major position of need for the Buckeyes in the 2020 class, so it’s possible that he may get his first college look on that side of the ball.
But it’s going to be hard to keep a player with Martinez’s speed and elusiveness from getting the ball in some way on offense or special teams.
