Buckeyes Open as 9-Point Favorites Over Michigan

Ohio State has opened as a 9-point favorite in next weekend’s game at Michigan.

The Golden Gate sportsbook in Las Vegas has released their lines for next weekend and they have installed the Buckeyes as a sizable favorite, but perhaps not as sizable as some has presumed.

Back in the summer, several sportsbooks released lines for the “games of the year” and the Wolverines could be found at that time as favorites by 2.5 to 3 points against the Buckeyes.

Things have changed since then, however.

Ohio State has already secured the Big Ten East championship and will play in the Big Ten Championship in Indianapolis the week after The Game. Michigan, meanwhile, has suffered losses to Wisconsin and Penn State — two teams beaten by Ohio State by a combined score of 66-24.

The Wolverines are 9-2 on the season and 6-2 in conference play.

This is the first time all season that the Buckeyes have been less than a double-digit favorite. Ohio State is 8-3 against the spread this season, with the last two weeks being their only games this year where they haven’t covered since the season opener against Florida Atlantic.

Michigan, on the other hand, is 5-0 against the line in their last five games.

The Buckeyes are favored in this game for the eighth time in the last 10 meetings with the Wolverines.

Michigan was a 3.5-point favorite in last year’s matchup, which was won by Ohio State 62-39.

The over/under for this game is 55.5.

The over has been a winning bet in the last six meetings.
